The Place
Come to “ The Place" for beautiful seafood roasted over an open fire. The Place started as Whitey’s when an old sailor by that name started a clambake place in Guilford, CT. When he retired, two of his employees bought and renamed it The Place, still serving Whitey’s famous roasted clams and other seafood. Get the trifecta: a whole lobster, roast clam special, and a corn on the cob. The roast clam special is drizzled with the special sauce (a mixture of slightly spicy cocktail sauce and butter) then put back on the fire to “roast in the flavors”. The roasted seafood is a nice change from the steamed (though they offer that, as well) or boiled offerings around the state, and the clams in the slightly spicy tomato-based cocktail sauce are a must.
